Did you know that trains have EPCs?

This, in the ‘you couldn’t make it up category’, is proof – if it were needed – that the world may have gone clinically insane.

Mrs EAT was struggling to get home from Waterloo on Monday night, and with services disrupted had to catch a train to a different destination several miles from her ‘home’ station.

“No problem,” said Mr EAT. “I’ll meet you there and check on the internet to see what time you’ll get in.”

He checked, and found a lovely EPC on the South West Trains website which, very gratifyingly, informed him that his other half was barely emitting anything at all from her train, which (helpful graph here), was much better for the environment than going the same distance by car, but sadly, not quite as good as if Mrs EAT had managed to hop on a coach.

Of course, information as to where the train actually was or what time it would arrive was much harder to locate.

However, all was well when we finally met up and were able to rejoice at the low-carbon and environmentally-friendly excursion Mrs EAT had just endured.

Yeah - Whatever next? Telling people that before they buy a car, that it may only do 20 miles to the gallon and petrol prices are rising!!

"This Government will tear up red tape and bureaucracy!"

They. Just. Cannot. Stop. Themselves. Wasting. Our. Money!

EPC'S are about as much use as a sticker on a fridge in Currys.
