Now you too can have a phone App

So, you’re on Twitter and Facebook. Your social networking is par excellence.
You think nothing of SMS and 3-D walkthroughs, your website is firing on all cylinders, and your BlackBerry is your best friend.

But somehow you’re feeling, well, a bit last year.

So what’s missing?

It’s probably today’s must-have item – a phone App.

The cost, if we’re to believe the rumours (Hamptons are said to have paid £8,000 for theirs, and Rightmove over £30,000), is prohibitive.

So, we’re intrigued to hear of a new way for agents to get their very own app for an up-front cost of £2,500.

Property hunters will be able to download it for free and start searching your listings.

Check it out here..

Nothing is for free - there is always a catch. Irritating advertising, or a monthly fee. I've just got an iphone app for our business for £295 from eprmedia - and it's been v.successful. iphones are all very well, but don't forget app's for ipad, androids and blackberries. We're on to that now!

These guy's "Buzzhomes" are currently being "looked at" by Zoopla? is the word on the grapevine.
We know that their agency model leaves traditional agency practices miles behind on both cost and performance, and that Zoopla have been working very closely with them?
Our sources tell us.
Agency Insider will be monitoring the situation closely.

As I understand it? Buzzhomes are to release their own dedicated "FREE" iPhone App within the next couple of weeks... Could they be the very first "non corporate" to do so?
Wonder if their app will be as good as their site?

not sure about that, downloading Apps and deleting Apps is two simple clicks, if I was in an estate agents office or on their website and wanted to take it mobile, no better way than to download their FREE app and hit the road.

the problem with these iphone app offerings is that an iphone app hungry househunter will have to download multiple branded apps just to make sure they are searching the whole market. They won't.

They will always opt for one app which covers the market rather than use up loads of app real estate on their displays.

So the options for agents...go with Rightmove or FindaProperty after you've paid your dues. An alternative is to pay a smaller listing fee (not the equivalent of a holiday - sorry guys) for an iphone app property portal which not only links your property but already has access to 10,000's of property hunters who will happily download the app.

I am making an iPhone app that will be free for agents, so no need to use the above service. Wait one month and watch this space.
