The new chief executive of Propertymark, now combining five agency trade bodies including the NAEA and ARLA, has no experience at all of this industry.
Is that a problem for CEO Tim Balcon, or an advantage?
That question is put to Balcon today in a video interview available exclusively to Estate Agent Today readers by leading industry consultant Chris Watkin.

In reality Balcon has vast experience of leading professional membership bodies, from GWINTO – an accreditation, qualification and training organisation for the gas and water industries - and then with the development of the Gas Safe Register.
Before Propertymark he was chief executive of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment as it transformed both its activities and membership.
So is he just the right man to prepare Propertymark for a more regulated world of estate agency? Or does he lack the fundamental understanding of the industry?
It’s a fascinating five minute video, and our thanks to Chris Watkin for sharing it with us.
