Prop X - landmark event announced by Propertymark Trust

The Propertymark Trust has launched Prop X, its first-ever fundraising event, scheduled for Birmingham in September. 

A statement from the trade body says Prop X “will offer a unique and exciting opportunity for a whole day dedicated to knowledge-sharing and networking among property industry professionals, designed to echo the innovative TEDTalk format.”

Prop X is regarded as a significant milestone for the Propertymark Trust, and involves new trustees Megan Eighteen, David Mintz, and Toby Martin.

Trust chair Lauren Scott-Simpson says: "Prop X represents a pivotal moment for our Trust as we continue to provide essential support services to our members. We are committed to creating opportunities that foster collaboration and innovation within the industry."

The Propertymark Trust was originally a benevolent fund, founded to support members who had fallen on hard times. 

However, in order to be able to serve the ever-growing Propertymark membership, the benevolent fund applied for charitable status to allow gift aid to be claimed on donations, bequests to be free from inheritance tax, and for orphaned funds to be received from members. 

Since then, the Propertymark Trust has been able to grow and widen its remit and support to members in a variety of ways although says it remains remains true to its founding principles, providing support to members who have fallen on hard times. 

Examples of its practical work include giving financial support for a seriously ill member allowing them to regain some mobility and move around more freely; a grant of £9,000 to fund a property training academy which provides a clear route for young people to enter the profession; and paying funeral costs for a member who tragically lost two close family members in quick succession. 

It also covered the cost of therapy for an agent who had been stalked and assaulted by a former tenant, given grants for Mental Health First Aiders courses, offered educational and training grants to members who would have been unable to complete qualifications due to financial hardship; and given funding to members impacted by Storm Ciarán. 

Prop X is on Friday September 20 at The Millennium Point, Birmingham.
