Who are you and what does it say on your business card?
I’m Paul Halliwell and my VMC business card says “Executive Director” – I run ViewMyChain.
What is ViewMyChain and what does it do?
ViewMyChain uses data to automate the building and updating of property chains. This gives agents a current view of the chain for each their properties, which they’d find exceptionally hard to get any other way. Ultimately, this visibility allows for more proactive measures by estate agents, reducing fall throughs and shortening the time to complete.
What services do you offer and in what ways do you work with estate and letting agents?
Our service is a subscription one and agents can access ViewMyChain through their CRM.
What makes your product different and how does it benefit agents?
We are the only data-driven sales progression tool; ViewMyChain saves agents the time wasted in trying to get updates from other property professionals - thereby allowing all of that effort to be focused on where it really matters.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing estate and letting agents at the moment?
Paralysis. Things are getting worse, yet people aren’t making the decisions right now they need to help solve the problems their customers face.
What is your property prediction for the next 12 months?
This mess isn’t going to sort itself out, the time for individual action is now. The tougher the market, the more it becomes a burning platform where the status quo is not serving anyone. So I think we will see a lot of agents turning towards technology as a means of gaining a competitive advantage over their peers.
What is your greatest achievement in your current role and what made it so special?
I’m proud that our little group of “chainers” has delivered a product which delivers measurable and meaningful improvements to our client’s business metrics. Lots of talented people with lots of money have tried to solve this problem in the past and haven’t been able to.
What is the most satisfying part of your job?
Building businesses and delivering something that makes a difference to our clients. I’ve been involved in more than ten start-ups, two of which sold for more than $1b. I love finding a problem and crafting something to fix it.
Country house or city apartment?
Which one is closer to the water? (Note - Paul is a self-confessed watersports nut).
Trendy roof terrace or traditional English garden?
As long as I can see the sea, lake or river ….
Would you rather be a free-moving tenant or settled owner occupier?
My twins are now 21 and so I’m just moving back to a free moving tenant stage of my life.
