New AI property app function lets users describe their dream home

Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered property search app Jitty has launched a new feature that lets buyers find their dream home by simply describing their ideal living space in their own words.

This feature enables Jitty to analyse photos in property listings, extracting detailed information and to hopefully provide “more accurate and relevant results.”

Jitty argues that Instead of relying on “potentially misleading keywords,” property browsers can now search based on specific criteria, such as “neighbourhood vibes, exterior style, and desired interior features.”

Additionally, Jitty lets users search using natural language rather than entering specific locations and applying filters.

Backed by Gradient Ventures, Google’s AI-focused venture fund, Jitty uses LLM (large-language model) technologies, as well computer-vision, to read floor plans, and understand photos and descriptions of homes. 

Graham Paterson, chief executive of Jitty, said: “AI is advancing rapidly, and we’re thrilled to use its power to revolutionise the home-buying experience. We started with a basic search tool, then enriched it with deeper insights. 

“Now, we’re taking it to the next level by letting users search for precisely what they want in a home, down to the finest details.”
 

For example, with existing portals people can search for four beds, £250,000 in Bournemouth.

But Paterson said Jitty users can now search for ‘Three bedrooms and a home office, with a driveway and a garden big enough to play football in, in a city by the sea within a two hour commute of London. I need hardwood floors, an ensuite bathroom, and I still want to have Deliveroo.’

He added: “We’re giving people the granularity of a buying agent alongside the power and breadth of a traditional portal.

“Our goal is to help people find their perfect home, whether they’re buying or just browsing. With more accurate searches people can easily discover the homes that meet their exact needs and gain a better understanding of the market.

“Our strategy is to provide UK homebuyers with the best property search experience available anywhere in the world. This latest innovation brings us significantly closer to achieving that goal.”
