Raine Countess Spencer - the daughter of novelist Barbara Cartland - has opened the latest Harrods Estates prime central London branch in Kensington.
Guests were greeted by the famous Harrods Green man and enjoyed champagne and canapés prepared by the Harrods store’s banqueting team, after having the opportunity to have a ride in the Harrods horse and carriage.
Harrods Estates has been open since 1897 and was originally operated from within the Harrods store. A Knightsbridge office opened in 1919 followed by Mayfair - somewhat later - in 2005. A Chelsea office opened in 2013.
The new Kensington office has a team of eight and is headed up by Nicholas Shaw, who has worked for Harrods Estates since 2010.
Harrods Estates - helped by the brand recognition of the store - has been successful in international markets, predominately Russia, the Middle East and Asia with the result that foreign clients now account for 89 per cent of sales and lettings.
Harrods Estates also uses interpreters who work in the store to assist with clients.
The new 1,272 square foot office in Kensington will incorporate sales and lettings along with asset management, property management and new development services.
