Starlight Childrens Foundation: The JLL residential estate agency teams from London’s Canary Wharf, the City, south east, and Kensington raised a remarkable £20,000 in the seventh JLL Property 5k.
This goes to Starlight Children’s Foundation, an organisation that aims to brighten the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting them their greatest wishes and providing fun, entertainment, and laughter – a welcome distraction for children in hospitals and hospices across the UK. All Starlight’s activities are aimed at distracting children from the pain, fear, and isolation they can often feel as a result of their illnesses.
Charlotte Malone, director of residential at JLL, says: “The JLL Property 5k is a fantastic event that raises money for Starlight, an organisation that does inspiring work with children across the country, and we’re so pleased the be supporting it.”
Cotswold Walk in aid of the British Heart Foundation: The event was the idea of Laura Fiddes-Baron, senior lettings manager in Finders Keepers’ Banbury office. Together with eight of her colleagues, they completed the 34 mile walk from Chipping Campden to Cheltenham, stopping overnight in Winchcombe.
“I hadn’t realised that the British Heart Foundation did so much for stroke research. My dad had a stroke in 2014 and I really wanted to raise funds to help ‘pay back’ the good work that my dad received and also to help people in the future,” says Laura.
It was not all easy going, though. Michelle Horner from Finders Keepers’ Bicester office experienced excruciating blisters but carried on through the second day, albeit at a slower pace. There were sore feet and hips all round, not surprising given that the Cotswold Way has a total elevation of three times the height of Snowdon.
All the team members – Laura Fiddes-Baron, Emma Read, Marc Fox, Michelle Horner, Sarah Carroll, Maxine Allington, Philippa Siret-Godfrey, Kelly Merriman and Lucy McCormick – managed to complete the walk, raising an excellent £1,502 for the British Heart Foundation.
MacMillan Nurses: York estate agency Redmove is helping fund the work of MacMillan Nurses in the area with a special campaign. The firm will pay £27 for every new instruction they receive from clients during September as part of the charity’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ fundraising event.
The agency's managing director, Michael Redmond, says: It costs £27 to fund a Macmillan nurse for one hour to help people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support. We are proud to be supporting them in this way - they do excellent work in the area and we hope to raise a decent amount for them.”
Redmove will also promote their tie-up with MacMillan with a radio advertising campaign and banners on their website and on Rightmove.
