Spooky - but it's clearly no nightmare trying to sell on Elm Street

With Halloween fast approaching it appears by happy coincidence that the number of homes sold on the UK’s various Elm Streets over the past decade add up to 666. What a spooky coincidence.

There are apparently 79 Elm Streets in the UK but they appear lacking in spirit when it comes to prices - they average £180,114 per home, some 18 per cent lower than the national average of £218,964.

On some of the Elm Streets it’s clear that owners are just too frightened to sell because around a tenth of the streets - the ones in Manchester, Cambridge, London and Belfast for example - haven’t had even one property transaction in the past decade.

The research has been done by online agency HouseSimple and its chief executive Alex Gosling leaves no gravestone unturned when it comes to a puntastic comment.

“It sounds like a horror movie sequel, but for hundreds of homeowners, the curse of Elm Street could actually be a grim reality. We nearly leapt out of our skin when we discovered the number of sales on UK’s Elm Streets in the past decade was the devil’s number. It’s enough to send a shiver down the spine” he told Estate Agent Today, through cobwebs.

“Fortunately not everyone is spooked by Halloween and with Elm Street prices below the UK average, I’m sure plenty of buyers would snap up the chance to live on such an infamously named street. They just wouldn’t want Mr F Krueger living next door” he adds.

With prices on Elm Street this low, there’s clearly no need for them to be slashed further.

Happy Halloween from everyone at Estate Agent Today!
