Trump wins! (Well, at least when it comes to UK house prices...)

As America goes to the polls after one of the most cantankerous, aggressive and abusive campaigns since...well, our own Brexit vote in the summer, one enterprising estate agent has given a British spin to the presidential poll.

An analysis of house price movements over the past five years on streets with Trump- and Clinton-related names shows that homes with addresses including 'Trump' have appreciated at over twice the rate of those in 'Clinton' locations.

London estate agency Thorgills says that over the past five years, average property prices on streets with ‘Trump’ in the name have increased in value by 37.9 per cent compared to only 27.2 per cent for streets with ‘Clinton’ in the name.

And the presidential address which has seen the lowest capital appreciation since 2011 has been Clinton Avenue in Blackpool, which values have only gone up an average of 11.8 per cent in five years, equivalent to just under £10,000.

Trump wins the overall average price race by a country mile, increasing by an average of £131,299 - from £393,160 to £542,004 - in five years.

This compares to appreciation of a much more modest £60,125 – from £220,696 to £280,821 - for streets with Clinton in the name.

Top of the pile in terms of house price growth was Trumpington Road in the London borough of Waltham Forest, with average prices rising 56.6 per cent in the past five years.
