High-profile agent Chris Wood joins industry training panel

Respected westcountry estate agent Chris Wood is to offer consultancy and training courses through new industry training group Agency Mentors.

Wood, who runs PDQ Estates in Cornwall, is a former president-elect of the NAEA and board member of NFoPP until he resigned in 2009 and has business experience working with the management teams and boards of RBS and Tesco.

He has become high profile in recent years as one of the first agents to use and enthuse over social media; most recently he has become an outspoken critic of some online agents, running comparative exercises on the stock and sales performance of traditional and online agents in his area of west Cornwall.

Wood puts much emphasis on the importance of local knowledge in estate agency and his first course for Agency Mentors is ‘How To Become Your Local Go To Property Expert.’

"The best agents always add extra value to their clients, and the wisest clients always seek out the best agents. Key to achieving the best outcome for each individual client is the possession and deployment of the best knowledge and skillset in the client’s marketplace" he says.

Last month EAT reported that well-known industry trainer Adam Walker - former managing director of Norwich Union Estate Agents - would be teaming up with Agency Mentors to offer seminars, webinars and one-to-one advice sessions for agents thinking of leaving the industry because of retirement or other personal or financial difficulties.

I love seeing Chris's articles and campaigning for transparency. He's done lots of great work recently highlighting portal juggling which is to be commended.

I'm sure he'll do a great job in his new role.
