A digital marketing agency says it has identified ‘top key phrases’ used by would-be buyers when they begin their property searches on different websites.
The agency Blueclaw says an obvious keyphrase - for example “houses for sale” - attracts an average 368,000 searches per month, according to Google search trends, and is considered to attract more hits than other keyphrases.
The firm says Google’s Consumer Barometer Survey reveals that 84 per cent of people say the first place they look for information in general is the internet: for anyone interested in any form of property and real estate information the figure is 79 per cent.
An analysis shown to Estate Agent Today, using a tool Blueclaw has developed, shows the top 20 keyphrases as:
- houses for sale
- flats to rent
- house for rent
- flats for sale
- house to let
- repossessed houses for sale
- cheap houses for sale
- country houses for sale
- cheap flats to rent
- 4 bedroom house for rent
- 3 bedroom house for rent
- houses for sale in
- for sale houses
- 2 bedroom house for rent
- houses for sale by owner
- private flats for rent
- furnished flats to rent
- 3 bedroom house for rent.
The top five websites for carrying these terms and creating what Blueclaw calls “search visibility’ are:
- rightmove.com
- zoopla.com
- primelocation.com
- your-move.co.uk
- onthemarket.com
Blueclaw says: “These phrases should be used as part of your SEO strategy, as they are the ones which drive the most traffic to websites. So, produce some content based on these keywords, and get them on the relevant pages in text, metatags and H1 [header] tags, as this will give you a better chance of ranking for the keywords which produce the most traffic, meaning more visitors to your site, which in turn means there’s more of a possibility of a sale.”
