Consultancy claims 1.7m owners less likely to move thanks to Brexit

A survey from property consultancy Plentific suggests 1.7m households in the UK may be less likely to sell up in the next three years, thanks to the Brexit vote.

The survey - conduced by Opinium on 1,063 homeowners - says 12 per cent are less likely to sell by mid-2019, the equivalent of 1.7m vendors.

London developers, homeowners and landlords appear to be the least likely to move.

Plentific’s survey showed that, following the Brexit result, 18 per cent of London owners say they are less likely to sell in the next three years, well above the national average.

Across the country, the survey suggests some 25 per cent of younger homeowners aged 24 and under say they would now rather carry out improvements than sell their home, with 23 per cent now less likely to sell in the next three years.
