If agents need evidence of how members of the public can spot errors in property descriptions - and can raise an official complaint as a result - then look no further than the latest complaint made to the Advertising Standards Authority.
A member of the public made an official complaint about an advert they believed to be misleading for a property on the Reeds Rain website; similar details had been uploaded by the agency to Rightmove.
The headline for the house described it as a ‘four bedroom property’ on the website and the portal but the details beneath identified, and explained the features of, only three bedrooms. In reality, the property had only three bedrooms and not four.
“We contacted the advertiser and they explained this was due to human error and they amended the ad immediately” says a spokeswoman for the ASA.
