Data from the Land Registry suggests that - perhaps contrary to most agents’ expectations - there are some places in the UK where you can still buy a home for only £10,000.
During August a semi-detached house in South Hetton, County Durham, and a terraced house in the Rhondda Valley in Wales sold for £10,000 each, making them the cheapest homes in the UK to be sold last month.
By contrast, the most expensive house sale was of a terraced property in Westminster, for a cool £25.5m.
In terms of other data from the Registry, some 90,103 homes were registered last month, with 67,439 freehold and 8,718 new-builds.
Across England and Wales some 552 residential sales were for £1m or over; of those, some 297 were in London.
