The man seeking to establish the Charter for Independent Estate and Letting Agents says he is hopeful that the fledgling trade body may yet go on to be established.
For around 10 months agency software entrepreneur Charlie Wright has been attempting to gather support from independent agents for a group giving them a voice and campaigning, in particular, against online estate agencies.
The charter’s successful complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority about Purplebricks' TV advertisements prompted Wright to say on the CIELA website that the decision “may prove too little too late” for the organisation - an indication to many that the body was folding.
However, Wright has now told Estate Agent Today that: “CIELA is not defunct yet! Conversations with two different groups are progressing well and I’m hopeful.”
Wright sought to win support from a number of suppliers and other parties which were to have acted as partners if CIELA took off; it is thought these may be the kind of organisations with which the fledgling body is now having discussions.
