A survey of 5,000 people by agency chain Your Move reveals that 80 per cent of buyers view three or more properties and no fewer than 41 per cent view six or more.
There is a rough correlation between price and the enthusaiasm of buyers to view multiple properties, according to the survey.
Some 51 per cent of purchasers in the south east view six or more homes, closely followed by 48 per cent of buyers in the south west.
In contrast, buyers in the north west are the least likely to view six or more properties - only 30 per cent do this - while buyers in Wales are the most likely to purchase the first property they see: 16 per cent do this.
The survey’s findings have been released to coincide with the agency’s claim that February 2016 was the agency’s busiest month for viewings booked online.
In that month the booking volumes were 10 per cent higher than January, March or April, some 15 to 20 per cent higher than during the summer months, and a full 55 per cent higher than in December.
