Mind / Parkinsons UK: 2017 represents a significant milestone in the history of buying agency Prime Purchase, marking 15 years since it was established. To celebrate such an auspicious occasion, a team is walking 42 miles over two days across the western half of the Ridgeway - Britain’s oldest road - to raise money for Mind and Parkinsons UK.
Almost the whole team will be involved on the long journey from Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, to Avebury Down in Wiltshire.
Mel Bien, one of the team, writes: “This implies a level of intimacy and sharing that thus far has not been seen at Prime Purchase, and promises an eye-watering amount of lycra which frankly no one is comfortable with. Given the age of some of the participants, we felt a prehistoric route was fitting, although 21 miles a day will doubtless prove a challenge for all ages.”
The walk team members are Guy Meacock, Charlie Wells, Robin Gould, Ruth Pilbeam, James Shaw, James Watts, Paul Frost, Nick Croall, Lucy Askew and Mel Bien. The support crew are Emma Seaton, Andrea Owen and Sarah Broughton.
These are great causes so please give generously, here.
Thames Hospice: Lee Moss, who works for The Frost Partnership in Slough, is set to do a tandem skydive on August 10 on behalf of Windsor charity, Thames Hospice.
It comes after a former colleague lost her mother at the hospice recently. He said she had sung ‘songs of praise’ about the staff at the hospice, and on his fund-raising page Lee says: “Nobody wants to lose a loved one, but if the situation did arise, then we need the likes of Thames Hospice to be there for us all.”
His JustGiving page is located here.

Chestnut Tree House: A team of managers from Leaders have turned their attention from property to gardening for a day. The 12 strong group spent a day at the children’s hospice carrying out a range of tasks, including mowing, pruning, cleaning and weeding.
The day was organised – for the third year running - as part of Leaders’ charity partnership with Together for Short Lives which supports children’s hospices across the UK.
Kathy Taylor, area manager for Sussex at Leaders, who helped organise the event, says: “Chestnut Tree House is close to the hearts of so many of our staff and this was a great way for us to lend our support to the hospice and the people who work so hard to make it a comfortable place for children living with life-limiting conditions and their families. So far this year we are delighted to have raised £22,000 and are well on our way towards our £50,000 target for 2017.”
A group of 15 Leaders directors will soon also take part in a sponsored 10 mile walk from the firm’s head office in Worthing to Chestnut Tree House.
