Stephanie Slater, who was kidnapped while working as an estate agent, has died of cancer aged 50.
Ms Slater was held captive for eight days in January 1992 after her captor posed as a property buyer.
She was held in a coffin by Michael Sams and released after her employer paid a ransom of £175,000.
Sams was jailed in 1993 and also found guilty of the murder and kidnap of a Leeds teenager, Julie Dart.
Aged twenty-five at the time of the kidnapping, Stephanie Slater was working as an agent for Shipways Estate Agency in north-west Birmingham.
Shipways, a ten-branch agency, is now part of the Sequence Group.
Following the incident, Ms Slater moved to the Isle of Wight to help other kidnap victims overcome their experiences.
She also wrote a book describing her time in captivity titled: 'Beyond Fear: My Will To Survive'.
