Agents offer glasses not headsets for Virtual Reality viewing of properties

Estate agency and property consultancy JLL is offering a clip-on accessory which it claims can be put on to a mobile phone to create virtual reality technology via an app.

The system, created by a company called Spec and under trial with JLL for a year, uses 3D cameras to create VR and floor plans which can then be views through an app by would-be buyers or renters using the accessories.

“VR Clips make the house hunting process so much quicker and easier as people can view several properties in a short space of time and use this as a way of eliminating the properties they don’t want to see in real life” says Emma Deeny, associate director at JLL.

“Five four per cent of our tenant move-ins at Two Fifty One in Elephant and Castle did not physically view the property. We had the show apartments captured long before completion and tenants were happy to secure a property from the Spec footage of the properties” she adds.

The clips are being given to those visiting JLL’s offices and can also be sent in the post to prospective tenants or buyers.

Robin Wilson, Spec’s UK managing director, claims his product offers ”an accurate service that’s unlike anything else on the market.”

It’s now included as standard within JLL’s marketing package for sellers and landlords.
