Property Jobs Today - a bumper week for industry moves

Hello and welcome to a bumper edition of Property Jobs Today, your weekly insight into the key moves within our industry.

First off this week we look at United Kingdom Sotheby’s International Realty, part of the global Sotheby’s International Realty network, which has recruited Jason Corbett (right) as director of country sales and lettings.

He will be based at the estate agency’s Cobham office and most recently spent nearly five years as a Partner at Carter Jonas, having also worked at Sullivan Thomas, Greenslade Taylor Hunt and Savills.

Meanwhile James Somers has been promoted to Sotheby’s head of central London lettings - he’s based in the agency’s Belgravia office.

Now congratulations to Gordon Hood, who has joined Savills from Knight Frank to run the Reading lettings satellite office and will take the role of cluster head for Reading and Marlow. 

Gordon, who has more than 18 years’ experience in the property industry, will be focusing on growing the lettings business within the city centre and surrounding towns and villages. 

“Being given the opportunity of heading up the Savills Reading and Marlow Lettings office provides a new and exciting challenge whilst working for a very familiar and friendly brand” explains Gordon.

There’s more appointments news from the Leaders Romans Group which has named two new directors, as the company seeks to diversify.

James Hogan (right) has joined as group corporate client director; he will work closely with a variety of corporate clients including house builders, asset managers, housing associations, government bodies and charities.

Adrian Plant (left) has joined as new homes and shared ownership director. 

Discussing the moves, Peter Kavanagh, LRG managing director, says: “A major part of our group strategy is to continue to diversify the services we provide and to provide them across the whole of our network. The arrival of James and Adrian enables us to develop our property services, which will add great value to our existing clients.

“All political parties have made clear their aspiration to build more new homes and we believe there is a great opportunity for us to use our network of residential sales offices around the country to market shared ownership schemes on behalf of housing association clients and to provide more people with the opportunity to purchase the home of their dreams.”

Now let’s drop back to London where Knight Frank has recruited Mark Ruffell (right) and Simon Boulton (below) to head up its Woolwich and Aldgate sales offices respectively.

Mark previously spent 11 years as a negotiator, valuer and then sales manager in Canary Wharf and Blackheath with Foxtons, having started his career in retail.

Simon has joined as head of the Aldgate office, having previously been head of residential sales at Stirling Ackroyd, where he was responsible for the running of six teams.

Prior to this, he worked in Clerkenwell, Islington, Belsize Park and Hampstead, having started his career as a trainee negotiator in Banbury.

Staying with Knight Frank, lettings division partner Jemma Scott has joined The Buying Solution, the agency’s property sourcing and purchasing arm.  

Jemma specialised in international relocation and the super prime rental market working with corporates, high net worth individuals and families.

“Moving from London to the Home Counties continues to be a trend as does the draw to this part of the UK for international buyers. However both sales and rental stock in the Home Counties is limited - having an expert search agent on side can really help to ensure the right property is sourced and a fair price is paid either on or off market” she says.

Now there’s a big change in store for Gemma Flurry, property manager at Aldershot independent lettings agency Chilli Residential. 

She’s now joining Martin & Co in the town, following its acquisition of the independent firm.

Finally this week let’s swing over to Southampton where respected consultancy JLL has recruited six new members of staff. 

Alex King, an accomplished town planner with experience across both the private and public sectors, joins from external operator Planning Issues.

Luke Mort has joined as a senior surveyor from local practice Holloway Iliffe & Mitchell in Portsmouth. 

Adam Stubbings has been appointed graduate surveyor to work in building consultancy and Hannah Griffiths to work in office agency. 

Additionally, Matt Chown and Holly Thomas have been appointed as graduate surveyors to support to the office's expanding business across the south.
