Emoov boss named one of UK's '500 top tech influencers'

The chief executive of failed online agency Emoov has been named this week as one of the 500 top “tech influencers” in the UK - days after his company collapsed after failing to find a buyer and being put into administration.

The list has been drawn up by a PR firm, Tyto, and in an introduction to its Top 500 list the managing partner Brendon Craigie says: “For us, an influencer is a key opinion former; someone who sets the trends, leads the discussion, and is at the bleeding edge of what they do.”

Tyto measured social media influence, influence within industries, and public speaking at key conferences. The list includes academics, bloggers, business leaders, celebrities, entrepreneurs, politicians, journalists, trade associations and venture capitalists, and covers 20 sectors of activity - one is Property.

Quirk comes out at number 23 - the highest property-related entrant.

His response to featuring on the list was: “The irony…”

Other property industry names in the top 100 of the list include Dominic Wilson of PI Labs, Susan Freeman of Mishcon de Reya, Melanie Leech of the British Property Federation, and Graham Norwood, editor of Estate Agent Today.

Non-property but well-known names also in the top 100 include Cabinet ministers Matt Hancock and Sajid Javid, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Peter Jones, BBC News technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones and Virgin boss Richard Branson.

You can see the full report from Tyto here - you may have to register to see it.

To quote the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing a well known historic figures' psychological profile:
"Never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."
