A crowdfunding bid to Emoov’s staff to win financial help over the Christmas period has flopped badly with a paltry £30 raised in the first 36 hours.
The pitch was in the name of Amy Matthewman, an Emoov staff member, and was put on the Gofundme site - not the crowdfunding platform used by Emoov for its controversial fundraising exercise earlier this year.
Some 140 people were reported to have been working at the hybrid agency at the time it went into administration at the start of last week.
Since then Urban - the lettings subsidiary that merged with Emoov earlier this year - has been re-purchased by its founder, although it had never formally entered administration itself. Nothing yet has been heard of what, if anything, the administrators can recoup through the sale of Emoov’s vendor listings or its much-hyped technology package.
Matthewman’s pitch says: “All ex staff of Emoov Ltd were left in financial no mans land when the company had no choice but to go into administration. Staff not paid for what they’ve worked, worried sick and out of a job. Christmas is looking miserable for most. It’s this time of year humanity usually prevails and we look after one another. Let’s help them put food on the table and give them a start for 2019.”
The bid is for £550,000 - that would be over £3,925 for each member on average for each of the 140 - but after 36 hours it had attracted only £30 through three separate donations.
