Former estate agent Nick Ferrand has gone public with a new website which says home owners decide when and to whom they sell their property without the involvement of estate agencies.
Ferrand contacted journalists yesterday saying that “with everything that happened over the weekend” they may be interested in his new site.
Yannups, which soft-launched at the back end of last year, describes itself as “a community of members, united in their ability, engaged by the simplicity and driven by a common objective.”
It says it is “not an estate agency, nor is it a hybrid agency. Yannups uniquely delivers and creates the platform for vendors to take control of their biggest asset and sell that asset directly to buyers, free of third party fees or commission.”
It continues by saying: “Yannups vision is one of change, where change brings disruption, where the old order bellow and where change is met with rejection; but change is inevitable and Yannups is that change. The future of property commerce is here.”
Private sellers publish details of their homes, organise viewings and directly handle enquiries from potential viewers and buyers.
Ferrand - who is still listed on the website of the Italian-based Abode estate agency - founded the London agency Domus Nova back in 1998. Victoria Greenwood - who has worked in the international property departments of both Savills and Knight Frank, and who is also listed as involved with Abode - is also one of the founders of Yannups.
This new site is one of a number recently trying to facilitate For Sale By Owner; in recent weeks we have covered Okaylah and Roofoveryourhead.
