Congratulations to Andrew Hovey, one of Brighton and Hove’s most experienced and successful property experts, who has become vice-president of the Brighton and Hove Estate Agents Association.

Andrew is area sales manager for Sussex at Leaders; he started in the industry in 1997 will hold the position throughout 2018 before taking the presidency in 2019.

“I am extremely proud to be part of BHEAA and to have become the vice-president. When I first started in the property sector more than 20 years ago my boss at the time was a former president and he was a great believer in doing everything possible to make estate agents as professional and reputable as possible,” he explains.

In addition to providing a code of conduct for estate agents across the city, BHEAA raises money and awareness for local charities and hosts seminars for property professionals designed to improve knowledge and understanding of key topics within the industry.

One of the capital’s top buying agents, Peter Mackie, is bowing out.

Peter has worked for 24 years at Property Vision, spending the past 11 years successfully at the helm of what is perhaps the country’s best known buying firm.

He took on the role of Managing Director of HSBC Private Bank (UK), of which Property Vision was a fully owned subsidiary, for five years, before the agency became independent in 2012.

Peter says will maintain strong links with Property Vision, while taking the time to devote his attention to his additional business interests in Northern Ireland, where he oversees a family-owned farming estate.

“After an unforgettable career at Property Vision, the time is right for me to take a step back from the management of the business, and to concentrate my interests outside of the property market, which will include relocating to my family home in Northern Ireland” says Peter.

Meanwhile Property Vision has announced the appointment of Philip Harvey as senior partner.

Philip has been with the buying agency for 17 years, running the business’s country offering as a managing partner.

As the new senior partner, Philip will oversee the team of 12 partners, based in Property Vision’s offices in London, Ascot and Hungerford.

“I have always said that I have the best job in property. My role at Property Vision gives me countless opportunities to indulge my interests – meeting fascinating people, and dealing with best in class properties that of course come in all shapes and sizes” explains Philip.

“In my new role, I will be lucky enough to work more closely with our partners across the business, building on Peter’s great work and promoting Property Vision’s role as being unrivalled, trusted advisors.”

Finally this week we go to Yorkshire where the county’s largest independent agency - Dacre, Son & Hartley - has expanded its office network creating new jobs and investing £50,000 in a new branch in Elland.

The new head of office is Philip Garnett, who has worked at Dacres in Bingley, Keighley and Ilkley for the past two years after 11 in the public sector.

Born and bred in Elland, Philip, whose family owned and ran a textile mill for six generations, has always had a keen interest in property.

“It’s been a long-standing ambition to run a property business, and this opportunity with Dacres, which is such a solid Yorkshire brand, was simply too good to miss” he says.

Philip is joined by local sales negotiator Sarah Chilvers, who has more than 10 years of experience working for a number of other estate agents in West Yorkshire.

The new branch will initially specialise in residential sales, before expanding into lettings, and clients will also be able to take advantage of Dacre, Son & Hartley’s surveying and financial services offerings.
