Agents Do Charity - and it's snow joke in this weather...

Collars up, gloves on, scarves pulled tight...it’s so cold you can hardly concentrate on work let alone anything else. But the plunging temperatures remind us that so many people less fortunate than ourselves need help at times like this.

Thankfully the industry is, again, stepping up to the plate. If you want publicity for your hard work, let us know on press@estateagenttoday.co.uk

And while we who are fortunate enough to have homes throw another log on the fire, let’s look at this week’s terrific good work.

Foodbanks: Industry charity Agents Giving is continuing its support of The Trussell Trust with a nationwide campaign to encourage all agents and suppliers in the property industry to support and help combat poverty.

Agents Giving are asking for YOUR help to tackle hunger in local communities by preparing a simple food parcel to donate to your local foodbank.  Please check with your foodbank the items they are in most need of, collect them up and make the donation.

Samantha Lane, Head of Fundraising at The Trussell Trust, says: “Foodbanks rely on local businesses to help them deliver vital services within their communities and break the cycle of poverty, so we would like to thank Agents Giving for their support.”

You may also like to collect any unwanted coats you no longer wear and donate to someone who needs them more than you in this cold weather. Get your whole office involved in collecting coats and once you have your pile ready to go contact your local night shelter, homeless charity, or local Foodbank who will happily take them.

For full information on how to get involved with these initiatives, please visit the Agents Giving website agentsgiving.org to find out how to help your local foodbank and support The Trussell Trust.

Cancer Research UK: Henry Beercock of Beercocks will be competing in a three round charity boxing event in support of this charity, with Ultra White Collar Boxing.

Henry will be fighting at the KCOM Stadium in Yorkshire on March 24.

While Henry is already on his fifth week of training he is very much looking forward to the challenge and raising money towards a fantastic cause that is close to his heart and many others! Henry and his team have raised over £5500 and their plan is to double that figure.

Centrepoint: The friendly face behind Base Property, Kristjan Byfield, is planning on attending the ESTAS awards next month dressed as a Viking.

He’s doing this for Centrepoint because it supports and gives homeless young people a future.

“So there I was minding my own business tweeting from a fancy dress party dressed as a Viking when the challenge came in!” explains Kristjan.

“If you fancy the amusement of seeing me dressed up as a Viking at this year’s ESTAS, please donate what you can to this amazing charity to support the incredible work they do for homeless young people” he adds.

We decided to sponsor the charity auction to show our respect and appreciation for all the incredible work that Bridgehead achieves and to highlight this to our community.”

Jessie May: David Wilson Homes has announced plans for a brand-new charity golf day in aid of Bristol’s Jessie May charity.

The housebuilder hopes the inaugural event – at the famous Celtic Manor Resort on July 6 – will help its team raise around £50,000 for the children’s hospice charity this year.

As well as the chance to play 18 holes of golf on the course trodden on by some of the biggest names in the sport, the David Wilson Homes golf day will feature on-course competitions with the chance to win prizes, a three-course evening dinner with live entertainment; clay pigeon shooting; an auction and a raffle.

Jessie May provides respite care at home for terminally ill children in Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset. It currently provides 130 families with respite care and 50 families with bereavement support.
