Online agency Emoov has amended its website following the intervention of the Advertising Standards Authority.
The authority says the agency’s site included claims such as “Our activity around Scunthorpe…£2,672 Average Customer Saving” and “Our sellers saved an average of £4,378 in fees with Emoov…”
There were also two different fixed fees listed on the page – one claimed the fixed fee was £795 while the other said it was £679.
A complainant contacted the authority and challenged whether these two saving claims could be substantiated and whether the two different quoted fixed fees were misleading.
A statement from the ASA says: ”After we approached the advertiser, Emoov agreed to remove both saving claims from future advertising and to not make similar comparative saving claims relating to fees in the future. Emoov also amended the ad by removing the £679 fixed fee claim and making clear that the £795 fixed fee applied.”
The authority says the issue was informally resolved through this route and did not warrant a formal investigation.
