Agency Express, which reported a muted housing market in February, says the pace picked up considerably last month.
The board company, which measures market activity by demand for its For Sale and Sold boards, says month on month data showed nationwide increases for both categories in March.
For Sale demand rose 14.6 per cent and Sold was up 11.5 per cent.
All of the 12 regions recorded by the company’s Property Activity Index reported increases in new listings ‘For Sale’ and 11 reported increases in properties ‘Sold’.
This month’s top performing region was the North East. Rising for a third consecutive month, new For Sale listings were up 33.2 per cent and Sold up 24.6% per cent. Scotland followed suit reporting a record best increase for March with figures for properties Sold up 31.3 per cent.
Other regional hotspots in this month’s index included in the For Sale category, Scotland up 21.6 per cent, the North East up 19.4 per cent and South East rising 18.6 per cent.
In the Sold category, the South West was up 21.7 per cent and Central England up 17.3 per cent. London increased 16.2 per cent.
The only decline in this month’s Property Activity Index was reported in Wales. Following a robust start to the year figures for properties Sold dipped 0.3 per cent.
