Fine & Country Foundation: This great foundation has announced the 17 homeless charities and projects that it is supporting through its first ever grants scheme.

Thirteen UK-based charities, one national youth campaign and three international organisations will benefit from the grant pot.

In March 2018, homeless charities across the UK and overseas applied for up to £15,000 of funding from the Fine & Country Foundation’s first grant programme. The scheme was a huge success, with a wide range of projects and innovate ideas put forward by charities. The applications were assessed in April and the final decisions have now been made.

The Fine & Country Foundation’s national partner, End Youth Homelessness, will receive £20,000 for vulnerable young people in the UK. Internationally, 150 girls from ActionAid Bangladesh’s Happy Homes project will continue to receive support to ensure they are safe and given the best opportunities to make the most of their future.

The projects chosen cover a wide range of support and include: life-skills courses, improving and establishing hygiene facilities, and start-up costs for new homeless charities.

The autumn grant scheme opens on 1st October to all homeless charities and organisations. For full details, visit www.fineandcountryfoundation.com.

Brain Tumour Research: No fewer than 23 people from Jackson-Stops’ London Group and the Frank Harris estate agency have teamed up to tackle the Tough Mudder Half to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

The team had to run five miles, tackling 13 obstacles along the way, including the Block Ness Monster, Mud Mile and Everest – no easy task!

They have currently raised a fantastic £1,200 for the charity, which seeks to improve the outlook for people with brain tumours by funding research that takes forward our understanding of the mechanisms underlying tumour development and helps develop better ways to diagnose and treat these tumours.

Hope For Tomorrow: Tetbury agency Moore Allen & Innocent has pledged to raise £10,000 over the next 12 months for Hope for Tomorrow, a cancer charity that operates 10 mobile units.

The fundraising drive will include a walk along the 100 mile Cotswold Way and an autumn race night with every penny raised by employees matched by the firm.

Founded in Tetbury in 2007, the charity brings chemotherapy services to patients in market towns, who would otherwise have to travel miles to receive their treatment at oncology centres in large hospitals.

It costs £265,000 to build and maintain a new unit for four years, with units staffed by NHS nurses and technicians and driven by NHS employees. Each year the charity needs to raise £1m.

“Hope for Tomorrow is an excellent local charity with national reach. I’m delighted that staff have chosen to support them this year” says agency partner Roy Bowyer. (From the Wiltshire & Gloucestershire Standard).
