A fund set up in memory of a 27 year old estate agent, who died of cancer just weeks after his wedding, has reached its target of £500,000.
The Sam Keen Foundation, was set up in 2011 after Sam died.
He was first diagnosed with cancer when he was a student at Liverpool University.
Sam worked as an estate agent at Preston Bennett - the Middlesex agency which is now part of Countrywide’s Hamptons International brand - and he married his fiance Ali a few weeks before his death.
In his 20s he underwent some 20 operations as well as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, gamma knife brain radiotherapy and treatment involving then-new anti-melanoma drugs.
His family and friends set up the Sam Keen Foundation to raise funds for research into melanoma; the half a million pounds has been used to sponsor Research Fellows based at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
