A new online agency has started charging only 0.75 per cent commission, payable only on completion, with no VAT and no minimum contract period for vendors.
Bliss Homes says it is aiming to shake up the sales market in the Dorset area, where it is based, but its website talks of “national coverage” and currently includes a property for sale in Portugal.
It’s run from an office on an industrial estate in the Ferndown area of east Dorset by Lewis Bliss, the agency’s co-owner, who has previously worked for High Street agents in the Bournemouth, Lilliput, Wimborne and Ferndown areas.
He says he operates with his father and “a small team” of entrepreneurs, professionals and marketeers with a combined 40 years experience in the industry, although he will be personally in charge of all sales.
“Growing up in the area meant that I won a lot of referrals from friends and people I knew, which provided a great grounding in all aspects of buying and selling properties. My ambition from a young age was to have my own business and create a modern, pro-active, independent, family-run company, with traditional values and an ethical approach to the estate agency business” he says.
The 0.75 per cent fee includes photography, floor plans and brochures.
“We are transparent in our service and fees, we don’t even charge for premium or featured listings on Rightmove ... I remain the point of contact throughout the whole valuation to sale process, from first meeting through to completion.”

In other words he's a one man band. We have one here in Bridgwater. Operates out of a room hired by the hour and tells prospective vendors he has 5 staff. This wouldn't, and probably isn't, at all newsworthy if it was a high street agent.
