TODAY'S OTHER NEWS

Agents Do Charity - the lull-before-the-storm edition...

Still recovering from Christmas and New Year? There’s no shame in that - the agents’ fund-raising season resumes in earnest in a few weeks time when the weather improves.

But that’s no excuse for not getting in touch and letting us know at least what you have planned for 2019 in terms of great work for good causes: just email us on press@estateagenttoday.co.uk and let us tell the industry…and perhaps encourage a few more donors and volunteers too.

Now, on with this week’s charity news…

Cancer Research UK: There’s a great start to the new from House Fox Estate Agents based in Weston-super-Mare…it’s generously donating £100 for all new pay-up-front instructions during January to Cancer Research UK.

The agency is relatively new but boasts that it offers full service agency at online prices - our thanks to managing director Neil Urch for getting in touch.

Tracy’s Street Kitchen: Members of Fine & Country in Nottingham have spent time with Tracy’s Street Kitchen in the city to discover how the agency’s £3,000 grant is supporting local homeless.

Tracy’s Street Kitchen was formed in 2016 by local resident Tracy Dickinson; she began sleeping rough in Nottingham when she was 14 but over time got a job, found somewhere to live and became passionate about helping other homeless people do the same.

Sara Spybey, F&C regional manager, says: “I’ve been volunteering with Tracy’s for five months. Seeing all the volunteers come together each week to give food and provide a smile to 100 to 200 people who really need it is such a rewarding experience.”

The Fine & Country Foundation’s £3,000 grant will fund the kitchen’s running costs for another year.

It was one of 14 homeless charities supported by the foundation’s 2018 autumn grant programme; the spring grant programme is open from March 1 to March 31 for registered homeless charities to apply for up to £3,000 of funding.

Agents Giving: The Agents Giving Love Mud Challenge powered by Nuclear Races and supported by Estate Agent Today and Letting Agent Today (who are they? - Ed) returns in 2019 for a second year and Agents Giving is challenging the property industry to get muddy in aid of charity on Sunday May 19 at Brentwood in Essex.

Last year’s winners were the team from Estate Agent Today/Angels Media (who are they again? - Ed) completing the course in a record time of two hours and six minutes.

But have you got what it takes to take home the winner’s trophy?

This challenge is a 7km gritty and very muddy obstacle race of natural and man made obstacles to test all levels of fitness so everyone can take part.

Obstacles include the death slide, zip – lines and 120m gorilla bars to name a few.

You choose how many and which obstacles your team take on.  This is tough enough to be challenging but also achievable and fun.

It’s part of a festival weekend event hosted by Nuclear Races and benefits from timing chip, hot showers, parking, refreshments and food hall, spectator areas, camping option, live music and entertainment for all ages.

Gary Barker, MD of Reapit and Director of Agents Giving is a keen participant of tough mudder events and he says: “This year’s Love Mud Challenge is set to return to test the industry and is a great way to get fit this year.  This will be a fun team challenge and one we know competing agents will love, so sign up your team now and let’s get the challenge started.”

All fitness abilities can enter, minimum age to take part is 13 years old, fees are £250 each which includes entry fees and your fundraising for Agents Giving to be completed by May 19. Online entry deposit required at time of booking.
