Cartels and anti-money laundering take centre stage at NAEA event

The government policies and enforcement plans for anti-money laundering measures are set to take centre stage at next month’s annual conference of the National Association of Estate Agents.

The Minister of State for Security, Ben Wallace MP, is to be one of the keynote speakers.

Another prominent part of the conference will be issues surrounding competition law for estate agents.

Clive Robins from the Competition and Markets Authority will update attendees on the dangers of competition law, drawing on lessons from CMA cases and explaining what business cartel behaviour looks like.

The conference - on February 14 - will also hear from Joe McEwan, former Head of Brand at the Innocent drinks firm, and from Andrew McMillan, the man responsible for defining John Lewis’ legendary customer service.

There will also be a contribution from motivational speaker Nigel Risner on getting the most out of the people you work with.

Sally Bundock, business and financial journalist at the BBC, will host the event at 155 Bishopsgate in London.

“Agents are facing a tough year with political uncertainty impacting the housing market and an increased focus on economic crime. The National Conference provides a good opportunity for agents to learn from peers and to continue building their knowledge” explains NAEA Propertymark president Mark Bentley.
