Data from an agency comparison website reveals that in the current market it takes well over a year for a home to sell in several parts of the UK.
GetAgent says that across Great Britain as a whole it is currently taking an average of 247 days to sell a home, and across London that figure rises to 286 days.
Specifically the website names the City of London as currently the slowest local market of all, taking 409 days to sell, followed by Islington at 402; then comes Barnet (313), Lambeth (307) and Richmond (305).
Outside of the capital Eden in Cumbria is the slowest where homes take 401 to sell.
Ceredigion (392 days) and Pembrokeshire (350) are the slowest in Wales.
In southern England, outside of London, Bournemouth is slowest on 324 days to sell, followed by East Devon (319). are also home to some of the longest periods to sell a home so far this year.
GetAgent’s methodology is to pull data from major portals and to cross-reference with the Land Registry using proprietary algorithms to create what it calls “a comprehensive record of what is selling, where, for how much and how long it’s taking.”
