Zoopla has revealed the most searched-for property terms on its portal in the past 12 months with ‘garage’, ‘parking’ and ‘garden’ topping the league table.
‘Bungalow’ is fourth, followed by ‘detached’ and - perhaps surprisingly - ‘annex’ ranked in sixth.
There are regional variations; for example, those looking for homes in the south west of England have ‘sea view’ and ‘cottage’ making the top 10, while in the East of England ‘acre’,‘rural’ and ‘pool’ feature highly.
“Keyword searches are a useful gauge of home buyer priorities, and offer an insight into how people are living today. They can also inform agents on which attributes to highlight in a listing, which in turn enhances searchability amongst home hunters” according to Andy Marshall, chief commercial officer at Zoopla.
“Buyer preferences evolve over time, and ‘electric car-charging point’ and ‘smart home’ will no doubt emerge as search priorities in due course, particularly as eco-living and automated properties become more mainstream” he adds.
