Movember Foundation: Six whiskery chaps at the Droitwich and Worcester offices of Nicol & Co raised £1,000 after the company’s mortgage advisor Nick Marsh was diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer. Those taking part in the month of not-shaving were Matt Nicol, Shaun Crowe, Nick Marsh, Luke Alexander, Richard Nicol and Tom Jackson.
Matt Nicol, managing director, says: “We’ve been supporting Movember for the last 10 years, and were even more determined this year after Nick was diagnosed with prostate cancer. We’ve already broken through the £1,000 barrier and are hoping to raise even more.”
The Movember Foundation wants to halve the number of deaths from prostate cancer by 2030, a condition which than 1.4m men are diagnosed with each year.
Anyone wanting to support Nicol & Co’s efforts can make a donation at https://uk.movember.com/donate/details?teamId=2263635.

Worthing SleepOut: A managing director from a Sussex-based estate agency has raised £500 sleeping on the streets of Worthing to raise awareness and money for a local homeless charity.
Matt Jacobs from Jacobs Steel participated in the annual Worthing SleepOut to experience first-hand what it is actually like to sleep rough.
Equipped with just a basic sleeping bag and some cardboard, Matt experienced a very wet 12-hour overnight period with low temperatures of just seven degrees.
“As an agency we are very passionate about the local community. Supporting a charity that is striving to make a difference to the environment around us, is a very natural thing for us to do. The night was a real eye-opener to how some people are forced to live on a daily basis” says Matt. But there’s more great news from Jacobs Steel…
Turning Tides: Jacobs Steel is also supporting local homeless charity, Turning Tides this Christmas.
The agency is appealing for a list of items that are urgently required for the local people sleeping rough this December. They include coffee, sugar, squash, juice and biscuits; men’s small waist jeans; and miscellaneous items including anti-bacterial spray, bleach, toilet cleaner, toilet rolls, tea towels, sleeping bags, bath towels, clean and unstained single duvets and pillows
Items can be donated at any of Jacobs Steel’s six West Sussex-based offices.
Managing director Pat Barton says: “They do outstanding work, particularly with the young homeless across the county so we knew we had to act. Our donation stations are now open and we are hoping that we can exceed the charity’s expectations with our collections.”
