Connells has confirmed that it’s closing one of its branches on Wednesday with some but not all staff being redeployed.
And the company has quashed speculation amongst some of its own staff that this may have been part of a wider programme of closures.
The branch shutting down is Connells in Bury St Edmunds.
EAT received two tip-offs about the closure - one from a Connells employee - and both speculated on whether this was one part of a more extensive closure programme.
EAT asked for a company response; in it the company ruled out wider closures.
The statement says: “We can confirm that Connells’ Bury St Edmunds branch will close on 18th December. Customers will be well served by the William H Brown branch situated next door (part of the Connells Group network).
“The majority of staff members have been redeployed within the business and, looking forward, Connells Group remains committed to growing its branch network as evidenced by our recent acquisition of a three branch agency in Cambridgeshire.”

No news here, Skipton building society actually has one of the most solid businesses in the UK property sector.
And having one branch overhead to service one local market makes perfect sense.
Its a living and breathing company - sometimes it breathes in, sometimes it breathes out!
