Alex Chesterman, the entrepreneur who founded Zoopla, has given vocal backing to a new conveyancing app called Thirdfort.
The app allows conveyancers’ house-moving clients to send ID, bank details and information required for anti-money laundering checks - all electronically, thus reaching their legal advisers more rapidly and securely.
Asked by The Times to nominate the best start-up technology of 2019, Chesterman refers to Thirdfort as an “example of a business solving a real problem.”
Chesterman tells the paper: “The process of buying or selling a home hasn’t changed for decades and carries increases risks for lawyers around compliance and for consumers around fraud. Third fort tackles this with a mobile app, empowering lawyers to carry out checks with no need for physical documents.”
He continues: “With a photo of the required documents and a selfie, Thirdfort carries out identity and anti-money laundering checks.”
Chesterman, who founded the property company in 2007 and launched the Zoopla portal the following year, is now behind a brand new business called Cazoo.
It pledges better selection, value, convenience and quality in the UK’s used car sector, which involves eight million transactions each year.
