Countrywide’s high-end brand Hamptons International says agents at its branches will in future be “delighted” to fill water bottles for members of the public who pop in.
A statement from the company says their Hamptons brand has partnered with Refill, an initiative which seeks to reduce the impact of single-use plastic in items like water bottles.
Refill works by users finding on a special app the nearest retailer or service provider who will top up water bottles for free.
Existing retailers partnering with Refill include Whole Foods and Pret A Manger - and now Hamptons International is one too.
“Hamptons International is delighted to be the first national estate agency brand to join Refill” explains managing director Lesley Cairns.
“Hamptons has a network of 90 branches, all in prominent high street locations, so it makes perfect sense to invite those looking for a water refill into our branches to prevent the purchase of single use plastic” she adds.
Cairns says the agency - which in 2019 celebrates 150 years in business - will shortly unveil other environmental initiatives.
For the moment she says: “By downloading the app and using Refill you can help reduce plastic waste and save money along the way. So please remember, if you’re near to a Hamptons International branch feel free to pop in and someone from our team will be delighted to fill your water bottle up for free.”

What a great initiative. Well done Hamptons....... this has the potential to help change how the public view agency..... wouldnt it be great that wherever the public see an estate agency they could refil a bottle or use the loo....
Having said that most of agents loos Ive seen have been like something out of trainspotting, so maybe some quality control is needed!
