Northwood has hoovered up Humphreys of Chester, which it describes as one of the city’s “most reputable and well-established estate agencies.”
Jim Cameron, who co-owns Northwood Chester with his wife Helen, says: “We believe that this acquisition will enable us to expand our business and become the local market leader in sales and lettings.”
Humphreys, which was set up in 1994, will continue to operate under its own brand name.
Fourteen of its current staff members will also remain in place.
“We have bought this very strong brand, and will continue to run it as the family-owned business that it was initially set up as 25 years ago” says Helen Cameron.
Northwood managing director Phil Gee says: “I honestly believe that this is one of the most exciting acquisitions that Northwood has made. It has added 266 managed properties to their portfolio, as well as a strong sales pipeline, and combining these businesses will make them the number one agent in the Chester area.
“It has always been part of Northwood’s strength to look at opportunities to grow our business. This exciting acquisition was only possible thanks to the very strong relationship that we have had for some time with SDL Group which owned Humphreys of Chester. Northwood and SDL will continue to work together on a number of property services initiatives.”
