With next Friday being Easter, this is the last ADC for a fortnight - so it’s our chance to honour those doing great work, and to remind you to let us know what’s going on with your fund-raising efforts.
Email us on press@estateagenttoday.co.uk with your charity news, and we’ll let the rest of the industry know about it.
Here we go...
Stroke Research: An agency owner at Elland in Calderdale has raised £3,000 by donating £5 for every house she has sold.
Ami Baxter’s mother died of a stroke in 2014 and Ami says: “Baxter Estate Agents is built on giving back to a cause which is close to the heart of the business. To be able to raise money by doing a job that I love is fantastic and I am so grateful to my customers who help make this possible.
“Donating money to Stroke research is very important to me because it affects so many people is lots of different ways and the answers don’t seem to be available so more research is desperately needed. It is now five years since losing my mum after she suffered a stroke, and I feel for the victims and families going through what me and my mum did” Ami tells the Halifax Courier.

Leeds MenCap: Morgans City Living agency has teamed up with local companies to collect Easter eggs for local charity Leeds Mencap.
Jonathan Morgan, managing director, says: “We regularly run competitions on our Facebook page, with our most successful competition reaching over 70,000 people. We’ve been committed to supporting Leeds Mencap for the past four years and we’re thrilled to be able to deliver a little Easter joy to an organisation we admire and respect and which works tirelessly to improve the lives of children and young adults with a learning disability, and their families.”
To enter the competition, local residents need to visit the Morgans Facebook page and like, share and tag the person they’d most like to share their prize with. They then need to hop on down to the Morgans City Living office at 1 Dock Street on Leeds Bridge and donate an Easter egg.
Anyone who completes all four steps will be automatically entered into a draw with a chance to win one of three restaurant prizes.
Unique: Two staff members from Scarborough’s Ellis Hay agency are running the Great North Run for a charity that supports people affected by a rare disorder.
Samantha Hay, founder and head of sales, and lettings administrator Becky Butler will run the event to raise money and awareness for Unique, which supports families living with a rare chromosome disorder or an autosomal dominant single gene disorder.
Unique helped Samantha’s niece who was diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder leading to profound disabilities and complex medical needs.
“Unique have been a huge help to my family, helping to point them in the right direction for help with practical daily living and advice on a variety of topics such as grants and funding. Holidays require military levels of organisation for families with disabled children. Unique help with all of this so that the families can enjoy quality time together with as little stress as possible” says Samantha.
“Through Unique, my sister and her family have met families who are experiencing similar things as them. This has been a great source of support and they have formed lasting friendships” she tells the Gazette Herald.
