Property Jobs Today - all the latest industry moves

Welcome back to the latest edition of Property Jobs Today (PJT) after a Bank Holiday break. Each week, we round up all the latest employment news from the industry.

In London, the property buying agency Middleton Advisors has expanded its team. Gemma Maclaran has been hired as prime London and investment advisor.

She'll be responsible for the £800,000 to £3 million investment sector in the capital. Her predecessor, Ashley Wilsdon, is now focusing on the £3 million to £12 million sector, while company director, Mark Parkinson, will look after the £12 million+ market.

"I think you really have to understand about selling property to be a good buying advisor. I was always interested in the opportunity that the buying side offers, to focus on a smaller number of clients and to guide them for the entire journey," says Gemma, who joins Middleton from Douglas and Gordon.

Mark Parkinson adds: "Middleton has successfully provided potential investors and buyers, even if they are already London-based, with a professional ‘read’ that gives them real confidence. We now intend to extend that service further and I know that Gemma will bring additional market knowledge and expertise to our London team."

Staying in the capital, new homes specialist Matt Cobb has joined Sq. One Real Estate - the mixed-use and residential consultancy - as a partner.

Matt was previously a director with Currell Residential and has 14 years' experience working on developments across London.

"Matt has tremendous experience particularly in the North and East London new homes and land market, and his expertise complements our existing strengths in West Central and South London," says Jamie Gunning, Sq. One Real Estate founding partner.

The new recruit will be tasked with launching the firm's new homes agency and working with clients to bring schemes forward to market.

Over in the world of property industry suppliers, Landmark Information Group has announced that Ben Robinson has been promoted to the role of managing director of its Estate Agency Services division.

Ben joined Landmark - the property, land and environmental specialist - in 2016 following the acquisition of ESTOS.

He has been instrumental in integrating Landmark's portfolio of agency services, which includes products such as Metropix and Compliance in a Box, together.

"From our perspective, as well as continuing to support estate agents with their AML, compliance, and floor plan needs, I look forward to introducing further innovations that will enable agents to complete more transactions with even greater speed and certainty," says Ben.

"It’s a tough market to operate in, and if we can make agents' lives easier, reduce their risk and support them in adapting to the changing market dynamics, they can spend more time doing what they are good at – selling properties."

After operating for just over a year, City Finance Brokers - a specialist mortgage and finance brokerage which works with agents - has announced a major hire.

Property expert Andrew Gillon has been appointed as the firm's sales director.

Andrew has previously worked for Capital Private Finance and Hamptons International. 

Andrew will help the firm to extend its services further through partnerships with estate agency groups, property experts and developers.

"It is a great opportunity to grow a strong brand and enable established brokers to take their careers to the next level, while utilising my own experiences and knowledge in finance and over 20 years in estate agency," Andrew comments.
