Property Jobs Today - who's moving where in our industry?

Hello and here’s another PJT to start the week: we hope it’s your first port of call when you want to know where and when agents are on the move.

Zoopla has strengthened the senior management team of its new homes function with the appointment of Alex Rose as director of new homes and promotion of Ian Hutson to head of sales - new homes.

With more than 15 years spent working with the housebuilding community, Alex will work on core business areas including product, commercial marketing, PR and research. Alex joins from Zoopla-owned Hometrack, where he was director of residential real estate solutions; prior to that he was at Rightmove.

“While the new homes sector, like much of the UK housing market, is experiencing more challenging times, there is a huge demand for new homes and significant opportunity for housebuilders. I believe that Zoopla is uniquely placed to meet their needs” says Alex.

Ian meanwhile has worked at Zoopla for six years, most recently as a senior sales manager. Prior to that he also worked at Rightmove in the new homes sector.

Now let’s swing up to Yorkshire and our friends at one of the county’s leading agencies - Dacre, Son & Hartley.

The firm has appointed Macaulay Thompson as lettings manager, covering the Skipton and Keighley areas. He has almost seven years’ previous experience at a Bingley lettings business.

“I started my career in property straight from school as an apprentice and enjoy everything about the fast-paced lettings industry. I now feel it’s the right time to move to a bigger firm and take on more responsibility” he says. 

Macaulay reports into Emma Kerrywood, who heads up Dacre, Son & Hartley’s lettings division across the firm’s 20 offices.

Now to the troubled world of online agency, and one of the sector’s most experienced hands, Adam Day.

He’s been named as the head of the new UK division of a US real estate firm with a dramatic name - eXp Realty, The Real Estate Cloud Brokerage.

It’s an online virtual agency with freelance agents using PropTech to link with one another.

Adam certainly has experience in this challenging field, having set up Hatched prior to it being taken over by Connells, and having had more recent spells at EasyProperty and the ill-fated Emoov.

And still in the online world, it’s reported that a founding director of online agency Yopa has stepped down from the board.

Andrew Barclay had been a board member for almost five years; however re remains a shareholder in the agency.

And finally this week there was the sad news that one of the Midlands’ best known and respected agent, David Hall, had passed away.

David started his career in 1954 when, as an articled clerk, he joined his father Raymond Hall at Doolittle & Dalley in Bridgnorth. 

He qualified as a valuer and surveyor in 1963 and remained actively involved in the business for a remarkable 65 years.
