In the property buying world, Haringtons Property Buying Agency have hired Mark Cecil as an adviser.

Mark joins a team of six and will work closely with founder Jonathan Harington and director Jamie Freeman in the country homes market, and Saul Empson and Nina Harrison in London.

In his role as an advisor to the business, Mark will concentrate on expanding client volume and growing the business through acquisitions.

Prior to his work with Haringtons, Mark was previously a client of the agency and has 33 years of experience in the investment banking sector.

"I have always had a deep interest in the residential property market, with a particular love of classical architecture and by association, private country houses," says Mark.

"I have followed the market carefully for many years and have informally advised a number of families on the purchase of country private residences."

Over in Aylesbury, Martin Kemp Estate Agents have appointed a new finance manager, Louisa Abbott, as well as a new property manager, Emma Belson.

A Belgium-based PropTech startup has announced its arrival in the UK with the appointment of a new chief operating officer.

SweepBright's latest recruit, Stephan Engelen, will lead the firm's commercial expansion.

Neel Pattni, who has more than 10 years of experience in the PropTech sales sector, will head up the firm's efforts here from its recently-opened UK office.

SweepBright helps agents to manage listings and contacts, with the aim of automating low-value tasks in order to increase efficiency and save time.

It already has customers in Belgium, France, Spain, Israel and Australia and says the UK represents its next major market opportunity.

Digital floorplans and measurements firm Spec has announced the graduation of the latest group to complete its course in digital surveyance.

Applicants are required to undertake a three-stage interview process, before 120 hours of intensive digital and on-the-job training.

On completion of their Spec training, applicants will then take a Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) certified measure qualification, which on completion will allow them to become fully certified surveyors and RICS members.

"Our goal is to ensure that accuracy and precision become the industry standard when it comes to property measurement," says Oliver Breach, founder and chief operating officer of Spec.

"For far too long the sector has considered accurate measurement as an afterthought, allowing property surveyance to be conducted by unqualified operators and photographers masquerading as professionals."

One of the firm's qualified digital surveyors, Lee McLaughlin, adds: "Part of my job is training the next generation of digital property surveyors and keeping on top of the tech that is coming out."

"It’s incredible to be at the forefront of new and emerging technology and realising that the methods we used 10 months ago are now obsolete."

Meanwhile, commercial intelligence provider for the commercial property market HARNESS Property Intelligence has hired Sarah Raeburn as its head of marketing.

Sarah was most recently a senior commercial marketing manager at Zoopla and will be tasked with overseeing the firm's marketing strategy and delivery of business growth in key sectors.

"We have a number of exciting projects on the horizon in which Sarah will play a key role in their delivery," says Ben Mein, CEO of HARNESS.

"The business is going from strength to strength since we’ve launched our data and portal proposition, positioning us at the forefront of the commercial property intelligence space."

And finally, in Scotland, Lesley Coghill has joined DM Hall. She will be using her residential property expertise to work towards expanding the firm's surveying services across the north of Scotland.

"We are very pleased that Lesley has joined us. Her knowledge and experience of the residential housing market in the northernmost part of Scotland and in Orkney is a real plus for our clients," says Graham Forbes, DM Hall's Inverness-based partner.
