A distinctly autumnal storm seems to be gripping the UK for the early part of the weekend but as ever, nothing dampens the spirit of fund-raising agents and industry suppliers.
Please let us know if you’re raising money for good cause - we are so impressed at what our industry does, often with little recognition, so we are happy to publicise and perhaps encourage others to contribute too. Just email us at press@estateagenttoday.co.uk.
Now, collar turned up and into this week’s stories…
-
Devizes Assize Court: This is a fund-raising exercise to turn the town’s old court house into a home for Wiltshire Museum and be used as a community space.
Grants have already come from the Architectural Heritage Fund and Historic England and now the Hunter French agency in the town has paid £900 as the first instalment of what is hoped to be £8,000 over the next 12 months.
Hunter French has pledged to give £100 for every completed house purchase in the year.

Ceilidh Brown Memorial Fund: Eilidh sadly lost her fight against cancer aged just 15 years of age in 2010. Since then Eilidh’s family have been working tirelessly to build a stunning countryside respite holiday home in the Stirling area for young people and their families who are going through, went through or have lost a child to cancer.
The Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund is a registered Scottish charity (SC042082).
The Stirling branch of Paul Rolfe estate agency is running a charity competition for a splendid £60 gin hamper - which includes a bottle of Stirling Gin Distillery - with all proceeds to the fund.
All you have to do is click on the JustGiving page and donate £2, giving your name so it can be put into the draw. Entries will be open until 12pm Friday August 16. (NB: any donation made after this will not be refunded.)

Help 4 Heroes: If you see someone outside Tring Tesco collecting for this cause this weekend, please say hello - it’s likely to be Philip Norgan, sales and lettings manager at Martin Kemps agency.
Philip’s kindly been in touch and says: “This is the third year I have done it as well as hosting the annual Help 4 Heroes Bear-B-Q and so far - from the Tesco stint - we’ve raised over £10,000.”
Congratulations to Philip and his colleagues from everyone at EAT!
Wetherby Tennis Club: High-profile Yorkshire agency Dacre, Son & Hartley has launched a new partnership with the club supporting coaching initiatives and sponsoring an annual tournament, as well as displaying its branding throughout the club.
Alistair Hogben, who heads up Dacre, Son & Hartley’s Wetherby office, said: “Sports clubs play a vital role in local communities and Wetherby Tennis Club is extremely active, with a vast membership base that reaches across the region. We’re thrilled to be supporting such a prominent and vibrant club and hope that this long-term partnership will assist the club in continuing to build on its success both in Wetherby and the wider area.”
