It’s another Friday so it’s another Agents Do Charity - of course!

It’s August and the height of the holidays but as we report this week, agents are still fund-raising hard for good causes. Please let us know what you’re doing by emailing press@estateagenttoday.co.uk - we’d be honoured to publicise your efforts.

Now, best foot forward and on we go…

Lords Taverners: Grab a blanket, your food and drink of choice and head down to Bond Street, Chelmsford for the first inner city picnic on Sunday August 18, starting at 12 noon.

Enjoy a variety of entertainment including live music and face painting whilst you graze and relax with family and friends.

Beresfords - along with support from the BID Chelmsford, Gepp solictors and Essex County Cricket - are raising funds on the day for The Lord Taveners as well as helping to increase the profile of Purple, an organisation designed to bring disability and business together.

The Lords Taverners is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity dedicated to giving disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance.

“The idea is to create a really big community event that didn’t have to cost a lot for families, but provides entertainment and a fun day out whilst raising funds and profile of two really important charities. A picnic is open and accessible to everybody and it’s about inclusion - one of the exact values we are trying to raise awareness about” says Beresfords marketing and business development director, Nicki Treffers.

Saint Catherine’s Hospice: Scarborough estate agency Ellis Hay is donating £50 to the hospice for every completed property sold. So far £350 has been donated.

Sam Hay, a partner at Ellis Hay, says: “Saint Catherine’s provides outstanding care for people in our local community. Through a multitude of services whether that is for patients, their family members or carers it is evident they provide a warm welcoming environment, something which we try to emulate ourselves. We try to understand each individual’s circumstances when they come to us and use this to help find the right solution for our clients.”

As part of the sale process, buyers and sellers can make an additional donation to the hospice if they wish.

SASH (Safe and Sound Homes): This charity works for the young homeless in York and North & East Yorkshire.

It’s started a Home For Good campaign, is aimed at local letting and estate agents, surveyors, architects, plumbers, builders’ merchants and any other housing-related business that believes that all vulnerable young people deserve a safe place to call home.

By joining Home for Good, local businesses have the opportunity to support a highly-respected local charity that plays a key role in helping young people who are facing homelessness in their community.

Letters agency has joined up, and managing director Anya Mathewson says: “A safe secure place to live is essential for health and wellbeing and it is even more important for vulnerable young people. Letters, an independent York family business, wishes SASH every success with this innovative and exciting initiative.”

Seven members of the Letters team took part in SASH’s annual sleepout in April to raise awareness of youth homelessness and raised over £1,500.

Letters also acts as clerks to three almshouses in York, which provide housing to vulnerable older people. Today there are around a dozen almshouses in York, and 1,750 across the UK. Together they provide about 30,000 homes to enable people who might otherwise struggle to find local, affordable accommodation, to live independently and with dignity.

Cancer Research UK: Hamptons International has raised over £6,000 for charity partners, Cancer Research UK, by partaking in the ASICS London 10k run.

Thirty employees took part in the 10k route around iconic London landmarks including Trafalgar Square, Big Ben and Embankment.

To mark Hamptons International’s 150th birthday, each employee has been tasked in raising £150 in its “Challenge 150” initiative. This year’s run is just one of many fundraising activities the business has already participated in, with a recent company-wide golf day raising over £7,000 and a mini music festival called ‘Snowchella’ raising a further £2,500.

Lesley Cairns, Managing Director at Hamptons International says: “It was wonderful to see our employees rally together to complete this race for the second year running – thankfully not in a heat wave this year! I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, and those who cheer us on our way. On to the next fundraiser”
