It's a fur cop: how a Zoopla listing landed a seller in court

Advertising on Zoopla is a must-have for most sellers but for Susan Tate in Anglesey it meant she ended up in court.

For the photographs of Tate’s property contained evidence of illegal taxidermy - animal skulls and stuffed animals - and was spotted by a would-be buyer who then reported the property and owner to the police.

A report in the Daily Telegraph says that specifically, Tate was found to be in possession of a dead Scottish wildcat, a porpoise skull, a large blue butterfly and a European red squirrel.

Tate - a former teacher who later told reporters outside the court where her case was heard that she was “from a police family” - was fined £56 for each of four charges, plus £650 costs.

In February this year, police accompanied by a BBC Crimewatch crew, went to Tate’s home to inspect the items.

Tate’s defence said she was “blissfully ignorant” of any wrongdoing.
