Three agents instructed to sell home seized by squatter

When Jasmine Fakir moved from her home in Brent, north London, to look after her ill mother she certainly did not want to sell it.

Yet within days it was on the market with three estate agents, having been broken into and ransacked by squatters.

Fortunately Brent council intervened after a tip off from neighbours.

But the locks had been changed and the house had been visited by agents marketing it on behalf of the bogus owner.

Now Fakir has sold the property of her own volition, at auction, but the case has prompted a warning from Brent council.

A council spokeswoman says: “Sadly, empty properties often attract fly-tipping, squatting and anti-social behaviour.”

Brent council is declining to name the agencies involved.
