Tragedy as Suzy Lamplugh Trust chief executive dies aged 42

The chief executive of the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, set up to commemorate the murdered estate agency, has died at the age of 42.

Rachel Griffin died from cancer and former colleagues have described her as “"a brilliant leader" and "a world-class human being" who was passionate about her work.

A statement from Suky Bhaker, acting chief executive, says: “Rachel was a fierce advocate for victims and her passion and commitment to furthering the work of Suzy Lamplugh Trust was inspiring. I know I speak on behalf of many colleagues when I say it has been a privilege working with Rachel. Rachel was an motivational leader who had passion and drive, who will be missed immensely by all those who worked with her past and present. Our thoughts are with Rachel’s husband Dave and all those who knew and loved her.”

London estate agency Suzy Lamplugh went missing in the early summer of 1986 and was declared legally dead in 1993. The prime suspect was named as John Cannan who received a life sentence for separate murder and sexual offences in 1988.

The trust was established the same year that Suzy went missing by her parents, Paul and Diana. It has run the National Stalking Helpline since 2010, supporting over 30,000 victims of stalking since that time.
