Agencies open offices out-of-town - a sign of the times?

Two agencies have announced the opening of offices in out-of-town-centre locations with easy parking.

In Loughborough, well-known local agency Andrew Granger & Co has moved from the High Street after 25 years.

“As a business we’re always planning and looking ahead, and while none of us were obviously anticipating Covid-19, prior to that it felt like the right time to find ourselves a more modern office with parking available for visitors” explains director Rupert Harrison.

“The three departments that operate from the Loughborough office – estate agency, lettings and rural - will now combine in an open plan setting and we’re all very much looking forward to this way of working once we are all office based again, rather than the majority of us currently working from home.”

The company is welcoming visitors to the new premises, on the town’s Forest Road, but by appointment only during the pandemic period.

Meanwhile in Exeter there is a brand new office opening for Fisher German, which is expanding in the south west region and has its new branch on Exeter Business Park.

It covers the firm’s six main property sectors - rural, utilities and infrastructure, sustainable energy, planning and development and commercial, as well as residential - and there are currently five members of staff based at the new office, with plans already underway to expand the team further in the New Year.

Fisher German partner Matthew Trewartha says: “We are very pleased to launch our new office in Exeter, and after working in the area for many years we saw an opportunity to not only better service our existing clients, but also build on these foundations to expand our client base.”

We've been looking for a farm based office for years, unfortunately they are full of art galleries and Pilates groups!

Sounds like back to the noughties! With office values plummeting on the provincial high street and the screws being put on driving and on out of town centres in the name of the environment, this sounds like a sensible idea for networking but not for footfall.
